Captive Power Transition Mapping is a central platform for data, information, and mapping on independently operated (captive power plant) fossil fueled power plants, as well as available intervention options to support the decarbonization agenda of captive power plants. This platform is expected to serve as a reference for industry actors seeking to decarbonize existing captive power plants or to build new renewable energy-based power plants to support industrial activities in line with efforts to achieve net-zero emissions targets set by industry management.

Currently, data and information on captive power plants and their intervention options are sufficiently available and are being intensively supplied by various parties. However, their scattered availability and lack of proper curation and management make access difficult for industry actors. Therefore, the Institute for Essential Services Reform (IESR) took the initiative to develop Captive Power Transition Mapping for curating and providing data and information related to the development of captive power plants and possible intervention options for industry actors, or various stakeholders, through a collaborative online platform.
